If Chrysler can do it, why not Chevrolet?

Loaded with most every option you can get, including satellite radio, leather upholstery and side air bags, the price was still a reasonable $22,650...

The speed-sensitive power steering is tuned to match suspension performance. The HHR LT1 tested was pleasantly agile with short turning circles. The added length and width make for a comfy cabin with ample stretch room.

...the HHR is most stable on smooth roads. The body tends to lean a bit around corners, but maneuverability is good and handling is OK.

Comparison
...the cargo storage possibilities are excellent, although the total cargo area of 55.6 cubic feet is 8.4 less than in the PT Cruiser.

Onto the freeway, foot on the floor, and the HHR 2LT really scoots, which makes it a lot of fun.
Comparison
Some folks think it looks too much like the Chrysler PT Cruiser and marks Chevy as a late-comer to that market segment. But there's enough difference, especially if you see them together, to mute that argument and show that HHR has its own aesthetic credibility.
New Car Test Drive
Inspired by its trucks and cars of the '40s, Chevrolet revealed the retro HHR in 2006, offering SUV styling with sedan-like economy. Since then, the nostalgic design has remained not only pleasing but practical, as the boxy 4-door shape lends itself to increased interior space. The front-wheel drive HHR is available in two trim levels: LS and LT. It is powered by a 155-hp 2.2-liter four-cylinder engine, mated to a five-speed manual transmission; a 172-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine is available for the LT, and a four-speed automatic transmission is optional on both trims. The HHR LS is equipped with 16-inch wheels, cruise control, air conditioning, satellite radio and MP3 capability; LT trims add body-colored mirrors and a power driver's seat. A 2LT option package outfits the LT with additional features that include a sport-tuned suspension, 17-inch alloy wheels, fog lights and a leather-wrapped steering wheel/shift knob; leather upholstery and heated front seats are also available for the LT, while a power sunroof is optional on both trims. Standard safety features include stability and traction control systems, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, front airbags, overhead curtain airbags for front and rear passengers and a tire pressure monitoring system. A rearview camera parking aid system is available. The Chevrolet HHR carries over with minimal changes for 2011. The MY LINK Package now includes one year of satellite radio service, and the SS trim level has been removed from the model lineup.
